CONDITIONS OF USE

Our duty of care

We want you to enjoy your time spent at The Font and to do so our team will do as much as possible to make it a fun and safe experience for all. To help with this we have some established climbing centre rules set out below that we hope will protect all our participating climbers and gym users in their activities. They are part of the duty of care that we as operators, owe to you, our customers, by law. As such they are not negotiable. If you are not prepared to abide by them you may not use our facilities. If it comes to our attention you are not abiding by our rules; our staff will require you to leave for the safety of yourself and those around you.

YOUR DUTY OF CARE

You also have a duty of care to act responsibly towards other users of the centre and yourself. By agreeing to our Conditions of Use you are agreeing to act responsibly with in our centres and in line with the conditions we have set out. This means that you will follow the rules outlined below and will, at all times, seek to keep yourself and those around you safe. Please be aware of signage that is placed around the centre that seeks to remind you of this commitment and ways in which you can fulfil it.

UNSUPERVISED CLIMBING AND GYM USE

Before you climb use the gym without supervision, the centre expects you to be competent in the activity you are wishing to undertake. You are required to register (via this form) to say that you understand and accept the Rules below and that you understand the risks involved in your participation. Anyone who has not registered must not climb or use the gym within our facility. Staff will provide whatever help and advice they can, but thorough instruction in the use of equipment or climbing techniques will only be provided when booked and paid for via our available coaching sessions; which we strongly advise to get you off to the best start in bouldering. If you are not confident in the use of any gym or climbing equipment or techniques, you must not attempt to use it without the supervision of someone who is competent to do so. Please speak to a member of the centre team if you have any queries.

SUPERVISED CLIMBING AND GYM USE

An adult who has registered at the centre may supervise up to two novice climbers as long as they are prepared to take full responsibility for the safety of those people. An instructor holding relevant qualifications and insurance may be able to supervise more than two novice climbers however this must first be approved by Font management. Novice climbers are the responsibility of the supervisor and the supervisor must remain with their novice(s) when in the climbing or gym area.

UNDER 18'S

All climbers under the age of 18 must be supervised by a competent adult climber, unless they have been assessed by a coach at the centre and signed-off for unsupervised use of the centre. For more detail on our Under 18's policies please see here.
